If you wish more expedited service please let me know. As regards USPS services, I will only override that setting and use USPS at buyer request, and then only with your firm understanding in writing that you release me from any indemnity should the parcel go missing. I'm sorry to have to take special steps, but I'd prefer that you receive the book that you are ordering! ***** TITLE: Our Globe: A Universal Picturesque Album AUTHOR: NABI, North American Bibliographic Institution PUBLISHER: North American Bibliographic Institution, Date: 1850 ISBN: N/A (pre-ISBN publication) FORMAT: Hardcover, 394 pages EDITION: Presumed First Edition PRINTING [if applicable]: No Stated Printing BOOK CONDITION: Fair JACKET CONDITION: No Jacket (As Issued) DIMENSIONS (if available): 10.50 x 7.50 x 1.75 in.approx. KEYWORDS: Gazetteer, Our, Globe, North, American, Bibliographic, Institutution, Woodcuts, Vintage, Text, European, World, Sites, Historical, Interest DESCRIPTION: An unusual volume, this is a bound collection of engravings of various famous sites around the world, along with several pages of affiliated text. According to the frontispiece, they were issued as a series, and the pages presented are the first year's edition, volumes 1 to 52 (although they are not numbered, nor is there any apparent order to them. However, the fascinating images of life in the mid-19th century are entirely absorbing, and the descriptive text is quite interesting. The volume is undated, but various book sites place its publication roughly between 1840 and 1850 (even the Library of Congress gives the date as "184-?" !). A rare and unusual example of this vintage view of our world. CONDITION: Significant wear to gilt-decorated boards, including hinges and spine (please see photos), as well as tops and bottoms of boards. Gilt edging to all three exposed surfaces of the text block. Binding is generally sound with only a few loose pages detected. Previous owner has taped LOC cataloguing tag on spine, and bookplate on the IFC. Inside pages vary in paper quality, some apparently much more acidic than others. Pages can be age-spotted and several different shades of brown. Tissue guards appear to be present for all of the images, varying colours of tissue papers, some have come loose but are still present.
