Description

[Photo Album]: Gloucester, Massachusetts Sailing and Civil War Vets Title: [Photo Album]: Gloucester, Massachusetts Sailing and Civil War Vets Publication: Gloucester, Massachusetts: [circa 1900] Description: Softcover. Small quarto measuring 7" x 10". Flexible brown leather album with "Photographs" stamped on the front board. Contains 93 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs and one laid in cyanotype measuring between 2.5" x 4" and 2.5" x 9" with captions. Very good minus photo album with rubbing, chips, and tears, with near fine photographs. A photo album kept by a family from Gloucester, Massachusetts at the turn of the century. The album depicts the sailing culture of the area with numerous photos of sailboats and ships off of the Massachusetts coast. There are photos of various beaches in the area including Fisherman's Beach and King's Beach. The photos are wonderful amateur shots of Massachusetts beaches including crashing waves, the rocky coast, water fowl, and people sailing. These photos detail the process the photographer was going through to create more artistic shots using lighting and clouds. Two photos are combined together to make a panorama of Marblehead harbor brimming with sailboats in the water. Two photos show a parade through Monument Square. Another two photos laid in depicts girls playing tennis at Simmons College. One page shows two photographs of old men captioned with the names, Ed March, Charles Hackall, Ed Nesbit, and Tom Stanley, who were Civil War veterans. They are seen sitting together with two additional photos of Ed Nesbit posing: one in portrait style and one outside with a cane. Later in the album there are reproductions of images of a Civil war company posing in a group shot and one of two men sitting together. They are presumably the older men in their youth. An interesting assortment of turn of the century snapshots of the Massachusetts coast as well as Civil War veterans. A++++ ZERO HEADACHES!!!!!! P.s. I just purchased this this morning and it hasn't been shipped yet ,HOWEVER they deserve positive feedback asap. Communication has been stellar. Commitment to customer satisfaction is awesome. If you want to work with(buy from) a seller that actually loves what they do, and will ensure great packaging , great value, and honesty, as in. Product as described.....save this store and share them with your fellow bookworms or anyone who has a love of books.

This was the only copy that I could find on the internet anywhere so it seems this is the original and was never reprinted. The seller was willing to accept an offer of a few dollars off which was nice, and I appreciated the effort in shipping this book in both a well packaged and timely manner. It will make a great gift for my sister for her birthday. The seller with kind enough to show me a few pages of what to expect, which also fueled my desire to purchase. Definitely recommend this seller!

Wow, this is one of the best purchase experiences I have had! The book was in pristine condition, just as described, and the seller was open to a counter offer. And, I'm not sure I have ever seen better packaging. So carefully done! To top it off, the package arrived several days ahead of the projected date. What's not to like! This book was part of a two-book purchase and shipped together, so I will leave the exact same description for the other one.
