Contains 20 black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring 3.5" x 5", without captions. Near fine album with near fine photographs. A photo album compiled by a young woman while on vacation with friends at Old Orchard Beach in Maine during the 1940s. The photos show pictures of the women lounging on the beach and by their summer cottage. A few candids show the girls taking naps on the beach as well as swimming. Towards the end of the album there are photos of the amusement park at Old Orchard Beach. The beach has been a tourist destination since the 1600s and dubbed the "Garden by the Sea." During the 1940s many of the Big Bands of the era played there and made it a must visit beach during the summers.
