S. Livesey. One painting is titled 'The Great Gate House', and depicts the gatehouse of Hampton Court Palace. The following four paintings depict different parts of the exterior of Hampton Court Palace, with two of the paintings showing views of the garden. Hampton Court Palace is one of only two palaces owned by King Henry VIII that has survived. The building for the palace began in 1515 for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, who was the favourite of the King at the time. It has been greatly expanded over time, with King William rebuilding and expanded the palace, intending to rival Versailles. The photo album is smart, in a half crushed morocco binding with cloth to the boards. With sixty-two blank pages. Painted by G. S. Livesey. Undated, dated from a painting signed by the same artist that was sold at auction in 2017. CONDITION In a half crushed morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Small mark to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
